OwnLife publishes free articles and build tutorials about software, AI, automation and technology. You do not need an account. The site is paid for by advertising.

OwnLife’s articles are researched, drafted and checked by an AI editorial system, and are published without individual human review. A series of AI agents gathers sources, writes the article (including any opinions and code examples in it), checks its claims against those sources and edits it. Automated checks and an AI quality editor then decide whether it is ready to publish. The AI quality editor has held back articles below its quality bar since late August 2026. Older articles were produced by earlier versions of this system, with fewer automated checks. Owen Richards runs OwnLife and is responsible for what it publishes.

Like any source, we can get things wrong. Treat our articles as a starting point, and check anything important against the primary sources we link to. If you spot an error, please let us know through the contact page. We will look at it and correct the article where it is wrong. Our Editorial & AI Policy has more detail.

Our content is general information. It is not professional, legal, financial or security advice for your situation. Code, commands and build tutorials are provided as examples. Read them and understand them before you run them, test them somewhere safe first, and keep backups. Results depend on your own setup.

The text and design of OwnLife are ours, or used with permission, and are protected by copyright to the extent the law allows. You may:

• • read, print and save our pages for your own use;
• • quote short extracts, and share links, as long as you credit OwnLife and link to the original article;
• • use code snippets from our articles and tutorials in your own projects, including commercial ones. Code is provided as it is, with no warranty that it works or suits your purpose. This permission covers code only, not our written text or images.

Please ask us first before republishing whole articles, translating them, or using our content to train or build a commercial product.

Photos. Most article photos come from Unsplash. They belong to the photographers credited under each image and are used under the Unsplash License. Our permission above does not cover them. If you want to reuse one, get it from Unsplash. Names and logos of other companies belong to their owners.

We show ads served by Google AdSense. Google chooses which ads appear. Advertisers do not choose or review what we write. We do not currently publish sponsored articles or use affiliate links. If we ever do, we will label them clearly on the page where they appear.

We link to other websites so you can check our sources. We do not control those websites and are not responsible for their content or how they handle your data.

When using OwnLife, please do not:

• • break the law, or use the site to harm anyone;
• • send spam, abusive or misleading messages through the contact form;
• • try to access the admin area or any system you are not authorised to use;
• • overload or disrupt the site, including by scraping it at a rate that affects other readers;
• • click on ads fraudulently or encourage others to do so.

We try to keep the site running and accurate, but it is free and provided as it is. We may change, pause or remove any part of it, or stop publishing, at any time.

We are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable, or that results from your own choices about how to use our content, for example running code without testing it. Because the site is free, we are also not responsible for business losses such as lost profits or lost data.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability where the law does not allow that, including liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for gross negligence or wilful misconduct. Nothing in these terms affects your rights as a consumer under the law of the country where you live.

We may update these terms, for example when the site changes or the law does. The date at the top shows the latest version. If a change is significant, we will say so on this page. The version in force when you use the site is the one that applies.

These terms are governed by the law of Ireland. You can bring a claim in the courts of Ireland. If you live elsewhere in the European Union or in the UK, you also keep the protection of the mandatory consumer laws of your country and may bring a claim in your local courts.
